The Vision Council Completes Merger With The Optical Laboratories Association

 
KEY BISCAYNE, Fla.—Today at The Vision Council’s 2012 Executive Summit here, it was announced that the Optical Laboratories Association (OLA) has officially become the Optical Lab Division of The Vision Council. Chair of the Optical Lab Division and president of the OLA's board of directors Mike Francesconi (at left with Jamie Shyer, chairman of The Vision Council) stated, “The OLA Board of Directors came to the 2012 Executive Summit, partly because of the unique synergistic environment here, specifically to complete the merger with The Vision Council.”

Business Outlook of Independent ECPs Improves at Year End, Shows Jobson Research Barometer

NEW YORK—For the last month of 2011, the outlook of independent ECPs towards their overall business saw a significant improvement, according to the latest edition of Jobson Optical Research’s Optical Business Barometer (OBB). The Barometer rose 0.3 from November’s index of 3.5, to reach 3.8 in December; its highest reading since March 2011 when the rating was 3.9.

Visually Impaired Artists Share How They ‘See’ the World

FULLERTON, Calif.—Artwork by visually impaired artists is on display now through August 2012 at the seventh annual Shared Visions International Art Exhibit at the Southern California College of Optometry. The juried art exhibit includes 90 works by 60 visually impaired and totally blind artists from throughout the United States, Canada, Sweden and Israel.
